Skyler Wrigley
Skyler Wrigley, owner, GIS specialist, and FAA licensed UAV pilot of TopoMetriks, has always expressed an interest the natural world from an early age, growing up among the coastal Redwoods of the North Coast in Humboldt County.
Graduating from University of California Santa Cruz, with a degree in Environmental Studies, he pursued further education in the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) obtaining a GIS certificate in 2023 from CalPoly Humboldt. Currently, he is enrolled at Penn State University completing an advanced GIS certificate in geospatial programming and web mapping.
His professional experience led him to the world of remote sensing and drone mapping. Through five years of working in the National Park Service and in Professional Environmental Consulting, he understood that current technology had the potential to increase mapping of natural lands on the magnitude of ten to a hundred times the current ground-based methods.
Because of this, he became a FAA licensed UAV pilot in 2022, and began flying drones for the consulting company he worked for. Realizing the potential of drones and mapping, he began his company, TopoMetriks, to enable people to accurately, efficiently, and cost effectively map the world around them.
